“Romeo Movie Review - A very stale attempt!”

Kittu (Sai Ram Shankar) is a fun loving guy but all his happiness disappears with the death of his girl friend, Paddu (Adonica). One day, he shocks to Samantha (Adonica) who is just alike to his dead girl friend. Samantha is a traveler who is exploring Italy then. Kittu snatches her passport and compels her to come to India to bring some solace to Paddu's parents. Rest of the story is how Kittu manages to win Samantha's love and heart.

Sairam Shankar has shown some improvement in this film. His styling is good to suit the film's promise and he seem to have worked on his diction too. However it is very awkward when he uses that staggering English dialogues.

Adonica is not a jaw dropping beauty but looked cute in the film with a next door college girl looks. She did decent work in the dual role. Massmaharaja Ravi Teja and comedian Ali appears in cameo roles and they bring in lot of relief to the film. Ali entertained us with Bujjigadu style "Yendey….Vacheyandey!" dialogue. Subbaraju is okay in the role of a baddie.

Gopi Ganesh - a former associate of Puri Jagannadh makes his directional debut with this film. He seem to have taken a cue from his guru and focused on exploring more on Italy in the film. You got to feel that you are watching a travel guide to Italy than a film. His writing has been terrible and there is absolutely no chemistry or emotions running which are very important for a love story. The film tests your patience in the first half itself and the very predictable interval just compounds the woes.  If not for the cameos of Ravi Teja and Ali in the second half, one can walkout straight from the film even before the interval.

Technical Performances:

Having decided the work of director Gopi Ganesh, we look in to other technicians of the film. Talented Musician Sunil Kashyap seem to have developed this habit of trying to steer falling ships. But often his good work go unnoticed along with the films' bad performances. Romeo will be just another edition. PG Vinda's camera work is superb and makes the film look very grand. Naveen Noli's editing has been decent. The Art department needs a tap on their back for their commendable work.Production Values are good.

Bottom Line:

The creativity of the director is that the hero is called Romeo as he roams in Rome. That sums up the creative quotient of the film. I will not even suggest the movie to watch in DVDs.
